Background Info
- Montagnards (French term meaning "mountain people"): originally from Central Highlands of Southern Vietnam
- Became allies and aided U.S. troops during the Vietnam War against the Viet Cong
- After U.S. retreat, Montagnard families were hunted, persecuted, and killed
- Surviving Montagnards escaped to relocate in refugee camps in Thailand and Cambodia
- After several years, the U.S. cooperated with the United Nations (UN) to relocate Montagnard refugees to the North America. Many have settled in the State of North Carolina
- This has been over 30 years and it's still on going
